Content Area

The subject matter of a Course Section as identified by the Content Area Category Code that relates to the State Course Code assigned to the Course Section, as defined in the CALPADS Valid Code Combinations document.

Many CALPADS reports display summary level information about courses by their content area category, which groups together course sections with similar content. The content area for a course section is determined by the State Course Code assigned to it.

“Multiple" course content area means a Class ID with 2 or more associated Course Section records where the State Course Codes are associated with 2 or more different Content Area Category Codes.
